With profound grief I have to state that our Vice Chancellor Dr. S. K. Mukherjee passed away yesterday.The event is mournful because we have lost a very dynamic person.He was instrumental in the setting up of our Patna Campus.Last time i met him was on 17 feb ,just 5 days ago he suffered lung problem and was hospitalized.He came in the workshop for Energy Efficiency.He was very friendly to almost every staff and faculty members and used to greet them whole heartily.His popularity can be imagined from the fact that every staff who came from Main Campus at Mesra would tell him self very close to him.
His words ,when we joined the institute ,still echo in my ears,"You have done a great job ,joining here at Patna.I want to assure you that resources will never be a problem in your development.This all is yours ,It is up to you much you utilize the available resources."
He introduced each and every faculty members to us, and i was surprised to see that he remembered the names and details of each one of them(Keeping in mind there are more than 200 faculty members at BIT Mesra).
Last time when I heard about him was few days ago,having learnt that he was ill and hospitalized.He was having breathing and pulmonary problems.He was admitted to Apollo Ranchi and was later referred to Apollo Calcutta, where he took his last breath.Doctors reason the failure of multiple organs as the prime cause of his demise.Today his mortal remains might have been cremated.
May his soul rest in piece and his highly cherished dream project of BIT Patna grow and flourish.
